There are a lot of myths surrounding the Christmas story. The only real litmus is the Bible. For instance, we have always been taught that there were three wise men. The odds are that they traveled with a large company so as not to be victims of theft. What was that star that they followed? Why did Herod order all of the children under the age of two to be killed? All of these answers are right there in the Gospel of Matthew.
