DEVOLUTION

Romans 1:18-32 is one of the most important and sobering passages in the entire Bible. In it, the Apostle Paul explains why humanity desperately needs the gospel (which he just introduced in verses 16-17). The short answer is: because all people are under the righteous wrath of God due to rejecting the knowledge of Him that He has clearly revealed.

This section focuses primarily on the Gentile (non-Jewish) world, showing that no one has an excuse before God. Paul will later apply similar principles to the Jewish world (chapters 2–3), proving that all have sinned and need salvation by faith.
